Game Server not finding cache files
  • So I managed to get the Cache and Client Downloaded and the phpmyadmin setup perfectly, made my self admin, and otherstuff. However running it kills me. The "Master Server" loads perfectly, but the game server doesn't.

EDIT: I uploaded most of the information to my Code sharing site. please go there to view my setups and errors. http://ti.mlestudios.net/paste/?archive

  • And the GAme server Error log is too big to fit on here, please see it at my site,

  • For security reasons, you have to manually edit which IP can have access to registering worlds on the master server.

Go to your masterserver.ini and change the allowed ip.

For cache, go to both masterserver.ini and gameserver.ini and change the filepath (or put your cache in /gamefiles/Commons/cache/ folder)
  • Thanks for the super quick reply. I an presuming that the IP that you are referring to is the one in this segment of which I missed to change from Line 7? I would assume that since that is the only "localhost"
string remaining. If I can succeed in setting up a working base, I will make a tutorial if you grant me permission, in your honor.
    1. # Remote Connection Settings
    2. string:remote.localip=192.168.1.126
    3. uint16:remote.port=43597
    4. int32:remote.maxconnections=25
    5. boolean:remote.logconnections=true
    6. boolean:remote.checkblacklist=true
    7. string:remote.allowed=127.0.0.1
Also I put my cache into the Desktop's directory where my install is.
    1. # Cache Configuration
    2. string:cache.filepath=C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\RSPS\jolt_2.0.0_b324\gamefiles\Commons\cache
I installed this setup on a Windows XP SP3 VMware Workstation. I think that my bios on my current, physical, server blew up, so I will get a new one and use VM Sphere to host several different types of game server such as: Minecraft, RSPS, Farming Simulator, WoW, etc. That is why I want this to work since then it will use less resources than what most rsps bases use. I also never used java or C# (except on piano... lol) so this will get me started. Thanks for everything.
  • It is the very last line in masterserver.ini

    string:remote.allowed=127.0.0.1,99.244.155.103

Add any IP's that a gameserver can connect from.
  • EDIT: IT WORKS NOW! the fix was install the correct 666 cache and get the Client connected (launch.java) and all my errors went away.

Ok I did that, got somewhere, but I then had more issues. So I dumped all my stuff and started fresh. I have the cache in two places
         1. C:\Users\AJ\Documents\Projects\Jolt v2\Source\RuneScape.Commons\Cache\
         2. C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\RSPS\jolt\gamefiles\Commons\cache

I get this error when running the gameserver launcher:

    1. RuneScape.Commons.Cache.FileStore
    2. System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Non-negative number required.
    3. Parameter name: value
    4.    at System.IO.FileStream.set_Position(Int64 value)
    5.    at RuneScape.Commons.Cache.FileStore.GetFile(Int32 file) in C:\Users\AJ\Documents\Projects\Jolt v2\Source\RuneScape.Commons\Cache\FileStore.cs:line 97
    6. [8:29:13 PM] RuneScape.Commons.Cache.FileStore
    7. System.ArgumentOutOfRangeException: Non-negative number required.
    8. Parameter name: value
    9.    at System.IO.FileStream.set_Position(Int64 value)
    10.    at RuneScape.Commons.Cache.FileStore.GetFile(Int32 file) in C:\Users\AJ\Documents\Projects\Jolt v2\Source\RuneScape.Commons\Cache\FileStore.cs:line 97

I managed to find a filestore.cs and pasted it into the cache dir, to no avail did it work. This is the file that I took...

Now I managed to get the client up and running and it appears as if it is not the right Cache since buttons and gernal GUI images are not there. I will redownload the one that was posted earlier.

  • Those are error messages that you don't need to worry about. It was queued for removal, but we never got around to doing it for the #324 build. It happens when the region wasn't found in the cache.

Your server should be running fine, though.
  • Yup the server is running great! very smooth and not laggy. the one thing I didn't like was that you can't really do anything, such as open doors, talk to NPCs, interact. but I'm not going to leech you, so i will code it myself, unless i did something wrong...
  • The core is still under heavy development, and alot of content has been added since #324, such as mining, woodcutting, firemaking, and a bunch of other things. So you can wait for future releases too.
  • ok... thanks. Is it possible for you to brief me on the content you are working on so I don't waste time on things that you'll do better? examples like doors, dialogs, etc. Those I could do and send the code over to you sometime which is what i mean.
